In my opinion the Knock Nevis was an idea ( for whatever reason ) to be the "world's largest ship" which really did not make practical sense, other than for the trophy status it was meant to possess. To begin with, any vessel that has an 81 ft draft and loa of 1500 plus ft and 81 ft beam is so ridiculously limited operationally it defies logic. It simply does not "fit" the worldwide pattern of nautical commerce. Sadly, it probably functions best as an offshore holding barge in deep ports which it cannot even enter. Admittedly it certainly gets credit for being somewhat maneuverable as limited as that is.
